About Me:

When I can’t form my thoughts

Into coherent phrases

I make up a scene

And create my own world

Of comparisons and ideals

This self-expression teaches me

Not how to write

But how to find out

What I am thinking

A doorway to my thoughts

More readily accessible

Than getting through the

Chains of neuroticism

Trapping traditional speech

I can’t attach a specific word

To how I am feeling

Only that it is negative

And weighing me down

So I take out my notebook

Or an app on my phone

And translate the confusion

Straight onto the paper

Maybe I feel like dark clouds

Looming in the distance—anxiety

Or a fire slowly trickling

Engulfing a tranquil forest—hate

Even a waterfall without enough water

A small stream barely noticeable—sadness

Whatever it may be

It helps me

Figure myself out and start to take hold

Of how I can help myself

Or whether I should ask others for help.
