Above the Elements

To a runner’s touch

The weather seasons can bring

Are mere obstacles,

The pelting hail storms

Burn when running into wind

But she doesn’t stop,

Rain streaming like tears

And making feet slide around

Don’t even faze her,

Waves of heat rising

Up like demons from the track

Are no match for her,

Not even the snow

Can crush her mind’s true spirit

She is a runner.
