Absence

I planned to do so many things

with you, for you.

To be your driver, and take you wherever your heart desired;

To walk across the stage, and show you the diploma I earned;

To move to college, and experience the real world you prepared me for;

To walk down the aisle, and have you give me away;

To have children, and love them as you loved me;

To buy you a house for you to grow old;

To take you to a basketball game, so you could watch the Clippers play live;

To take you to see one of your favorite bands live, and watch the magic of music mesmerize you;

I planned to be your person as you were for me.

But God had a different agenda.

This poem is about:
Me
My family
