Absence of Childhood Ignorance

Smart girl, smart girl how did you end up like this?

I did not have a voice, I did not have a choice

Smart girl, smart girl how did you end up like this?

Forced into maturity by the hands of perceived authority.

Smart girl, smart girl how did you end up like this?

Actions done on to me lead to fear of living recklessly.

Smart girl, smart girl how did you end up like this?

Lock the doors to the bedroom, lock the doors to the bathroom.

Smart girl, smart girl how did you end up like this?

Always kept my guard up so I’m never hurt again.

Smart girl, smart girl how did you end up like this?

The blissful ignorance of childhood is never supposed to last.

Smart girl, smart girl how did you end up like this?

Daddy dearest loved the bottle more than he could ever love me.

Smart girl, smart girl never had a chance with bliss

I’m stronger now because of it, I have now found my voice.
