Absence of Color
i am black
i am colored
but i am the man in white.
while everyone is judging
each other by color
i am the man in white.
i am the absence
the absence of color.
let he without sin
cast the first stone
and i cast none.
i cast no stone upon
my brothers
or sisters.
i do not see color
i have no color
i am the man in white.
i am black
i am colored
but i am the man in white.
i hold no grudge
toward white man or black
yellow or red or brown.
i am taunted with words
words of hate from white men
black men yellow
red brown.
people who don't even know me
people who have never
even bothered to know me
lump me together with the undesirables.
just because i am black.
i am black
i am colored
but i am the man in white.
i do not see color
i have no color
i am the man in white.
and i deserve this ridicule
i recieve every day
from black men yellow
red brown
no more than a child
oblivious to their own race
deserves the same hatred
from people
who don't even know them.
i am black
i am colored
but i am the man in white.
i do not see color
i have no color
i am the man in white.
and i am standing up to this racism
this cruelty
because it is not our color that matters
it is the beauty of our souls.
