Absent Light

Dear shadow,

In terms of wanting to remain inside

Of my own self conscious freedom

I find sanctuary

To collect myself and focus

On those who need something

That they cannot find

I feel my stream

Of thoughts

Getting carried away

Into the abyss

Of hollow loneliness

Which craves

To dine on anything that falls into its mouth.

Looking out

I see where the path ends

And follow it

Straight to the edge of the cliff

This is both mesmerizing

And horrific

Yet, I remain at the edge

Between Earth

And a sea

Of absent light.
