The Abyss of Time Forgot

Moments slipping into years-

Everything quickly fading away-

Times once fresh and living-

Hastening into the growing grey.

Fleeting, passing, gone-

The future becomes the past-

Can no treasured moment-

Ever more than seconds last.

Ever looking forward-

And then dear time is forever lost-

How much has been wasted-

And what will be the cost.

Will everything held so dear-

Live only in recalling-

I know this moment is fading too-

And is into the darkness falling.

And I know some things will always remain-

But I miss the things that do not-

And I wonder what has already been misplaced-

In the abyss of time forgot.
