Acceptance

Do I have to be mainstream to be cool? To be noticed? To have many friends who laugh at my jokes? To have followers everywhere I go? From Twitter, to Instagram To Facebook, to MySpace But is it really my space? When I have to hide and try to rearrange and organize To please others So I can be noticed I shouldn’t have to abide by the norms of society And think like everyone else Believe in what everyone else believes in And be the same as everyone else I should have the right to just be me But the world doesn’t work like that We have certain guidelines and rules to follow To be considered part of society Or be labeled as an outcast, a misfit; a nobody So that is why I must wear my clown mask every day to please others So they won’t tease me So they won’t pester me I wear it so I may have friends But they really aren’t my friends They cannot accept me for me In actuality I am all alone A lonely traveler wandering the Earth in search of love and acceptance I will always hope until the day I fall, that someone will love me For me
