Acceptance
One piece of paper after another
500 words or less
each screaming,
"Me! Me! Me!"
But there are only so many spots,
so many chances.
How can one stand out against another?
Each worthy, each qualified,
So well-rounded they've become
a circle
all trying to fit into the same narrow opening,
where a ray of light and hope
shines on the other side.
Perhaps, to stand out,
the paper should delicatlely fold into an airplane
And soar through the window of admissions;
That'd be sure to catch someone's eye!
Or maybe the paper could be a vivid pink
and smell of fresh strawberries,
alluring the senses.
Then again,
perhaps a simple poem
will do.
