Achilles' Elegy

My Patriocles, what have I done to you?

How have I abandoned you in your hour of need,

And saved myself at your expense?

When I discovered the news of you, my heart broke into two;

To the gods, I asked your life be returned in exchange for mine, I plead

In the cries and roars most intense.

And to this day, I swear, I shall never find someone new

And no matter how absent in may be, your touch I will always need,

For the absence of it shall be my penitence.
