Aching

Breathing, barely Waiting for a sign that will not, cannot, come They say His love transcends His love is unconditional But, I am listening, straining, hoping Waiting Stop, pause Nothing happens, I lose my faith I remember warmth around me Exciting my senses, I was filled with His glory With Him at my side, there was no fear Only faith, heart, love Now dread becomes me, it overwhelms my mind Nothing is real, the truth is not true All of my life I promised to Him The promise I kept, but it was not returned Nightly I prayed for protection That would not, could not, come Reality stings, but His betrayal, it burns I am hurt, I am betrayed Still I fight, I struggle I’ve lost my faith but I still believe Can I be forgiven? Again, I wait For a forgiveness that may never come Breath comes slowly I listen carefully Aching
