Acid of the Tongue

Venom spit, and iron spikes

Drove into tender skin

Vicious remarks, slash and strike

Lover’s brutal tailspin

The words we went to war with

Speech not left with thought

Gashes struck, our hearts let split

Armor, twisted, wrought
