From Across the Room

You throw your head back and laugh

The emerald hue of your eyes catching the fluorescent lights

It makes my breath hitch in my throat

I can feel my heart race

Your hand reaches for hers as you bring it to your lips

I can’t help but feel a dark cloud overhead

I’ve dug a hole for myself that I cannot climb out of

From across the room

I have fallen in love
