Across the World
In the warmth of her home, she lay down her head
The fire flickered in the night
Leaving shadows of comfortable sight
“Goodnight mom” the little girl said, it was time for bed
Across the world, the boy laid in a shed
Without his mom or dad, it did not seem right
The fire fell down and he lost all his sight
It was time for bed, without even a bite of bread
Two different places, yet we are all the same
Each person trying to hold onto their flame
The night gives us fear, with nothing able to see
But we wait for the morning, this is the key
We do what we can with where we are
All we can do sometimes is wish upon a wishing star
