Act My Age
I felt like I carry the weight of the world on my shoulders.
With secrets that are unsharable and dreams unreachable.
Stories that have partial been told with details left out.
People unspoken to because of the things that must be contained and guilt that will not rid itsself from me because I told the truth.
Pressure is built up by college decisions and grades.
And when I finally say it's all too much, I'm the one to blame.
But nevertheless I have to push on.
Expectations and responsibilities I must maintain for the fact that my reputation must stay tamed.
Giving up isn't an option with the little siblings watching.
Yet all I want to do is cry and scream all day.
Only a girl not yet a woman and some how I feel like I've forgotten how to act my age.
