Actions Speak Louder than Brochures

Location

I could write 'love' on my arms
or mark X's on my hands,
but beyond this social expression,
how am I to distinguish between
awareness and self-indulgence?
Preaching to you lines from a brochure
and a monthly payment $19.99,
these all ease hot flashes of guilt,
while simultaneously they stroke my ego.

Where then is true support when our actions are seen
dangling as a bracelet strangled around our wrists,
as we stand knee-deep in a bright white righteousness
and lack of initiative?
