Addicted
I have this friend and he's addicted to drugs.
He's addicted to temporary happiness and really long warm hugs.
He fell in love with this fake paradise and allowed drugs to take a hold of him
like a nasty parasite. When asked why he would always reply, " I see what the world
can't give me, i'm in love with my heaven at night", but you see in a way he's already
given up the fight. He'll take some pills to numb the pain because all the does is live
his life in vain. An addiction is not something you do every now and again an addiction
is something that's hard to stop once you begin. He'll take some pills to numb the pain,
he'll take some pills because he feels there nothing left in life to gain. An addiction will
bury itself in you like a knife. It'll plant itself in your brain screaming just one more pill,
just one more drink, until it takes away your will to think.
I have this friend and he's addicted to drugs.
He's addicted to not feeling pain and really long warm hugs.
I wish he could see that there's so much more to life than what it seems.
And yes we're all addicted to something that takes the pain away but the difference
is that yours could possibly kill you some day. And you sit there and you say,
don't worry baby, don't worry baby there's no need to cry but it's suffocating
the life out of you and you don't seem to care whether you live or die. We're
sitting here acting like nothings wrong as we take these deadly hits out of these deadly bongs.
We were sucked into this high life at the speed of light and none of us saw the damage it would bring.
We were constantly told it's just one night, one's not gonna hurt right? But one turned into two.
Two turned into five and five turned into I can't even count.
You see I have this friend and he's addicted to drugs.
I used to think that he chose to be this way and that at any given moment he could stop.
But now I think I get it, see pills are only five dollars a pop.
His mind is at ease, and I think mine is too as we feed into this addiction without having a clue.
To feel so high up when you've only ever felt down, how could any one expect us to just come around.
