I remember the day

The day I gave up on love

“It’s an empty, meaningless emotion”, I’d said

But he made me change my mind

Whenever he was around

The sun shone a little brighter

The birds sung a little louder

And for some reason

There was always a smile on my face

He reminded me what it felt like

To laugh

To smile

To sing

And to dance like no one was watching

His name felt like poison on my lips

His touch made fireworks explode on my body

And he added a little more spice into my life

It might sound a little clichéd

But the more time I spent with him

The more my old self came back to me

The truth is

…I was addicted

To his emerald green eyes

To his dark brown hair

To the way he made me feel like

I wasn’t seriously depressed

I knew it was bad

I knew it was wrong

Because I was falling hard

And there was no way to climb back up

When it came to him

I was addicted

And I just didn’t know

If I could ever give him up

I was an addict

And he was my drug
