Addicted Living
As the years go by, We beautify the city
But why haven’t we thought to purify the city
Our neighborhoods have more liquor stores when compared to others
Why don’t we stand against this injustice?
They’re across the street from our churches
Proximal to our schools
The youth are being left vulnerable to these virulent store fronts ran by fools
Bottles and Tobacco are prized as gems encased in bulletproof glass
Why protect something that comes back to bite us in the ass?
Would I be too radical for naming this as a modern day form of slavery?
Beer was a slave food
Addicts today are chained to these stores
So once I ask again
Why protect something that comes back to bite us in the ass?
Excuse my anger, I mean our lungs and liver
Detoxed cold shivers and troubled breathing are just the beginning
Cancer hits at any time, 30, 40, 50, 60 and so on
But I guess no one thought about this when they were getting a buzz on
I could honestly go on about this topic for hours
But the truth is that the community needs empowerment
Empowerment to lessen the count of these Alcoholic “Mom & Pop” stores
It’s time to open new doors and show our youth a different way of living
Because addicted living isn’t living at all.
