Addiction
Dear Heartbreaker,
Dependency has grown as I would crave for your attention,
Yet every time words uttered your mouth, I awaited apprehension.
Your hands on mine I dreamt of, fingers running down my spine,
Pulling my hips in closer, telling me you’re mine.
Your lips lightly on my skin, from my forehead down to my chest,
Grasping tightly to what was yours, your emotions you expressed.
Habits initially begin as new experiences, then eventually repeat until there is nothing new,
Your emotional side had diminished, as my dependency only grew.
I became addicted to your smell, the feeling of my fingers in your hair,
Addicted to your hugs, no other feeling could compare.
I was addicted to you, like a drug one depends on,
I needed your love, but it was gone.
An empty figure stood before me, feeding lies to keep me close,
Saying you love me, yet every time I try to kiss you, you oppose.
Your destiny and forever mean a week, then you decided to leave,
Forever isn’t always, your words only deceive.
Promise is just a phrase you used, you gave it no meaning,
Never giving me your all or showing that you cared, always short and demeaning.
I was addicted to a toxic, burned deep into my bones,
I craved for a beating loving heart, but instead got one with stones.
You are forever penetrated inside me, as I gave you all I had,
Because I was addicted to our love, yet you mad me only sad.
You left me at my worst, as my heart broke you didn’t care,
You took away my habit, my best friend no longer there.
My addiction increased as you left, withdrawal slowly covering my complection,
As you abruptly discontinued my intake of source of love and affection.
…
As I tossed out all of our memories, I look down on my dismantled bones,
The hole where you stole my heart and filled it up with stones.
I gave you the world, you gave me shit,
Why fight for a man who chose to quit.
If love was real then my body wouldn’t be burned, my stomach would be untied from its knots,
Yet I mend myself, covering all the spots.
Each day that I wake, you become no longer my addition,
Simply a lesson to be learned and only an affliction.
The best you ever had,
Marlee Coon
