Addiction
Maybe it's the way the salt accumulates off the tides into the air or the sweetness of the Prides
Tickling the senses of my nose and giving rise to the hairs on the back of my neck
What a joy; what an addiction
Perhaps it's the way the shades of the sunset; pinks and purples colliding with one another and riding the ripples of the calm ocean surface,
Warming my heart and giving me a relaxation of no other just pure bliss
What a joy; what an addiction
I think it may be the black construction paper that becomes the night sky; twirling with signs of a deep blue and supernovas of radiant stars with the dinner plate of a moon hanging in the distance,
Cooling my soul and giving me peace of mind
What a joy; what an addiction
It could be the costumes; royal reds, greens, purples, and blues draped in gold and silver cascading within feathers of headdresses and boots.
Making my inner child dance and sing along with the familiar chune.
What a joy; what an addiction
It's possible it could be the fresh coconut water or darling aroma of the foods; the mouthwatering spices and rices and fish,
still capable of taking one's breathe away and bringing you to tears of delight
What a joy; what an addiction
It was the love and free spirit; families gathering, and giving. For one another, to one another for all of time,
Making me realize that you don't have to live forever, you just have to live
This was my joy; and remains my addiction...
