Addiction
I am addiction
From that first hit
To that first slam
I am addiction
Leading you, leading you astray
I'll never go away
I am addiction
Can you hear the chains of my captives clang?
The bars being beat on by them?
Can you hear the cries of agony of the lonely and distressed?
I am addiction
Can you see me in the shadows, terrifying my prisoners?
Can you see me on the toothless man and the youth who's lost all sense?
Can you see me in the needle, in the pipe, in the mirror you wish wasn't there?
Can you see me in the can or the bottle?
Can you see me?
Can you feel me?
Through the pain and the depression?
Can you feel me through your shaky hand, holding the gun to your own head?
Can you feel me when you've finally lost everything?
I am addiction
Can you smell me?
A burnt smell that chars your lungs each time you inhale?
Through the traphouses and the lonely corner you fry your brain cells at?
I am addiction
Taking your final breath
Watching you fail
Your only friend
