Addiction to Connection
f l i c k e r of lights from a screen
tap-tap-tap of fingers on a keyboard
oh, so thin and light
the world sits, walks, runs and leaps on your lap…
but you sit and watch it from your laptop
the world in your pocket
knowledge of world renowned scientists on a touch screen
friends, acquaintances, virtual strangers all a tap away
a r—r—r—i—n—g and a b l e e p and a tweet
and your social life is complete…
so long as your iPhone has internet connection
royals, a-listers, multi-billionaires,
each has a p/i/e/c/e of your heart…
DID YOU SEE HER OUTFIT????
vocal f…r..y…. and upspeak…
trendy and cool and hipster, and, like, hot?
you know what’s in, you know whats new, you the real deal…
you’re the queen bee
the alpha male
your friends know what’s sizzlin’
if only they existed outside of Facebook.
you can take your broadband…
your internet…
your technology connection, I can live without…
ill take
empathy
compassion
kindness, happiness
authentic conversations
with real meaning and real connection
you take your technological connections
i’ll take my human ones
