Addiction is a Monster

Addiction is a monster

It is the vermin that lurks around the dark

slithering scales around the heart and mind

confide with chains, he is a slave.

money, money, riches

a dream we (not I ) want to be

and yet hope, hope, hope is all we do.

Slot by slot prolonging torture

of an illusion not guaranteed.

Why do we hurt the one we care?

routines don't exist

society carries a monster.
