Adolescence

Hey dude

A simple two syllable phrase

Is all that's needed

To become acquainted

You talk more

But are forced to leave

It was an impactful meeting

Communication continues and you become closer

You are very similar to this person

You enjoy common interests and

Also enjoy learning of their opinions.

The enjoyment allows you to spend more time

With them.

Hanging out every weekend

Debauchery, jokes, it’s bliss.

The same routine weekly

But you don't mind.

Eventually, things change for some reason

You don't know why but you notice it.

It doesn't bother you at first

As you think it will soon blow over.

But it doesn't.

Why did you change dude?

You stopped being humble.

Ego and hubris took over.

Adolescence wants to impress everybody.

I won't ever stop being your friend

But

I just wish things would revert

To the beginning.
