To the Adolescent Brain

Dear Brain,

You may think that you know better.

Especially when it comes to what is best for me.

You send mixed messages

Until I cannot tell

Whether to

Laugh

Cry

Blame

Or hate.

I tell myself it’s normal

To feel such turmoil.

Then

With everything ablaze

Emotions crowding my head

You prove me wrong

Yet again.

Something must be amiss.

Something must be awry.

Cease these incessant thoughts.

Halt your misfiring neurons.

Soothe my troubles

My doubts

My fears

For once.

Yours Truly,

Me
