Adore You
Caroline
I think of you often
Not as a lover but as a friend
I write with the male inside of me
A sheer reflection of what I wish I could be to you
Perhaps in some ways, friendships are meant to end
Some ships are meant to sink rather than sail
I see the damage you etched into the seams of our realities
I drown in abhorrent seas of displeasure
Your eyes a conniving river of cruelty
You smile as we sink
Trepidation bellowing from my lips
I cannot say this was all in vain
I believe there was some truth to your words
Whatever glue held them stuck enough to convince me
To place blame upon myself
You
A master of games
I wilted no matter how much I tried
What is meant to die withers before it disintegrates
Eventually, it becomes a burning wisp of a former flame
A flame we once held for one another
Gone, like it never existed
Goodbye
