Adulthood at Age Ten

Little girl

Untouched by the world

How does it feel?

To be carefree,

To be happy

At exactly 10,

You will be a little girl no more

You will be mother to your younger sister

You will have to figure out how to be an adult

How to feed empty bellies

Mom's on drugs

Dad ran away

You will learn from their mistakes

You will learn how to pick yourself back up

You are going to be okay

Some little girls have to grow up too young

While others enjoy childhood

But through this something valuable is learned,

Little girls are stronger than they know
