Adulthood Pt.2

“Adventure is out there”

Is what they say

You have to pay your own ticket

Is what they don’t

“Be yourself”

Is what they say

But don’t stray from the line

Is what they don’t

“take a stand”

Is what they say

But you’ll stand alone

Is what they don’t

False phrases and half truths

Litter our perfectly paved roads

And we grow up believing in everything

But when we’re grown, we realized

What they said wasn’t what they were saying

And we’ve learned to read between the lines

To achieve is to lose

To be is not to be

And to stand up

Is to stand alone
