Adulthood is when you realize

Adulthood is when you realize no one is coming to the rescue.

The car breaks, the diagnosis comes up positive, the rent is due, the family is separating

There you sit, a child

boulders of responsibility and fear pressuring down upon your shoulders, willing you to break

And you can, lots of people do. But you decide not to

You decide that you are willing to sacrifice yourself

to sacrifice your time, your labor, your strength and energy

because you know exactly what will happen if you don't

nothing.

You will remain exactly where you are.  Sitting in a state of despair waiting for help that will never come.

If no one else is able to help you, and you are not willing to surrender to the pressure, there is but one remaining option.

You must become the hero of your own story,

you must will youelf stronger and more self sufficient,  That is what it means to be grown.
