Advent - a found poem

ADVENT

                                 Abbey Vastag & Marjorie Agosin

She seems to have been touched by the rains.

The manatee lifted her into the skies.

She took the first steps onto the flight of passage.

And hopped on to ride two more times.

She sails and drinks the vastness of the sea.

She made new friends along the way.

They paved her path and her theirs.

She went for a late night swim.

Her eyelids trace maps of strange geographies.

She tried a Toblerone in Germany.

A pod of hamburger in Pandora.

A dole whip in Africa.

A quesadilla under the ancestors of Godzilla.

She seems to have been touched by the rains of madness,

that her hair blossoms each evening.

Saved from potential demise of its space adventure.

From her hair is born a dwelling place,

one of the nomadic style.

She is an island.

My name is Abbey. I’m a middle child and when I am not playing sports, in school, or with my family, I will almost always be out and about creating my own adventure.
