Adversity

Mother

You have tried to cut me down

Left me to drown

Alone in my sorrows

Never have you held me

Never have you loved me

Mother

You were in pain

Used me for your own gain

Introduced Him who would harm

Who would grab my arm

Enjoyed my sadness

Embraced your madness

Mother

What was I going to do

I cannot love you

It hurts too much

I will never want your touch

Mother

I am happy now

Let me go

I am free

Let me breathe
