Advice on Happiness
I don’t know what to tell you my dear, happiness is not something I am familiar with.
I do not know its warmth, nor its smile or the color of it’s eyes…
I have felt happiness very seldom times in my life.
I do not know what I can say, to make your pain go away.
Happiness is a phantom, that calls to certain men.
Happiness is a summer rain, quick, and powerful, beautiful….
But it too, eventually fades.
Happiness is not a friend to all, it excludes, and you so wish to be included in its loving embrace.
But yet happiness continues to hide its face.
My darling, I wish I could give you a definite answer to your question.
Though there are many things I could say to appease your hunger, there is nothing I can say that is 100% true.
Happiness comes to people in different ways.
There is no way to see what your fate shall be
Therefore I cannot say what will make you happiest in the least
I have known a lot of sadness and a lot of pain
Happiness is not a friend who comes by
More like a distant relative
Who abandoned me when I was brought into this world
They know nothing of my life
Nor do they care
But I hope things shall be different for you my dear.
If I can give you my advice on Happiness
It is this
In the moments you feel it
That indescribable warmth
That giddiness inside your chest
The giggles spurting from your lips
When you smile so much your face hurts
Hold onto it
Treasure it.
Fold it up and put it in your back pocket
When you do something and it gives you this feeling
Don’t allow your demons to defeat you
Or your pain to cover it up
Hold onto this happiness
And hug it close
Because happiness doesn’t come by often
His blue eyes are often hidden in a sea of life
His rumbling voice is disguised as thunder
But when he comes to you
And shares these
Childlike feelings
Of bliss and innocence
Hold onto them my dear
Because one day
When you miss those memories
Pull them out of your pocket
Unfold them
Breathe in the scents
Of euphoric melodies
And contagious giggles
And my darling
My sweet friend
Just be happy
Don’t let the darkness distract you from your moments of happiness
Hold onto the ones who make you happy, the memories, sights, smells, songs, or poems that give you happiness
Don’t forget to smile when you can
Or laugh at a joke you love
Just be happy
That is the best advice I can give you
Because I cannot tell you how to gain happiness
How to keep it with you at all times
Because we all get sad
We all experience pain
But we also
Get those moments of happiness
That seize us by the shoulders
And hold onto us in a tight embrace
If only for a moment
But we all experience it at some point or another
My dear
When happiness comes your way
Cling to it
Love it
And hold on to the memory
Until it comes back again.
