Advice from my Birthmark...

One day I was staring in the mirror
And I hear a
Voice whisper, "Look a little closer, so you can see me much clearer
Hey, remember me? I'm still here
And I know you think I'm ugly
So you've allowed fear of
What other people outside of you are going to say my dear, but
Don't you know that GOD made no mistake
Can you imagine the time HE took out to create...
Such a beautiful thang
Still here you are, trying to erase... ME
There ain't enough makeup in the world to replace me
And no matter how far you go, you could never ever escape me
For I am apart of who you are, yet you hate me?
Treating me as if I am something you scour
Rubbing me out with your foundation and your pressed powder
The more you attempt to shun me, the more your insecurities just scream louder
Must be frustrating to have to touch up your face every single hour
Of every single day, praying that no other eyes could lay
Upon the very thing that you find so hard to face
Hmmm.... you might as well get used to me, I'm here to stay
I ain't going nowhere, I'm here to relay
This message
Because obviously, you don't appreciate your own essence
Ever since an adolescent, you let them tell you who you were
No wonder you're so depressed- and
Overlooking your blessing, hiding behind your sex- and
All of these emotions you try very hard to suppress- and
I'm sick of you ignoring me like I'm not impressive
See, I am the shit! Not some shit running out of your nose, like they said I was
Your skin is so rich, GOD decided to add a little bit more chocolate
And it just happens to spread my love
Tell me, why'd you give them permission to get inside of your head my love?
I know you hate to get this deep, it's easier to run away instead my love
But I can't let you go this time, come here... Rest your head my love
Understand that when you were designed, you did not need a filter
So before slapping one on, I suggest you reconsider
I mean why would you add glitter
When you already shine?
You claim to love yourself but your actions prove otherwise
You're wearing a disguise
When you decide that you no longer want to hide
That is where true self love resides
No more compromising
No more lying
It's time to be real with yourself
No more crying
It's time to deal with yourself
Babygirl, you've been a mess but I'm here to help
Because you can never move forward, if it's me you can't accept...

Thank u it took me 20 years to do so. I was teased incredibly as a kid for my birthmark and my mole. I grew to love my mole because I saw how so many people drew on fake moles. But, it took up until recently for me to finally accept my birthmark under my nose. I figure if I'm going to love myself, I have to love all of me you know? Thanks again. This means a lot

Bravo
