Affection

It's like a craving, A desire, That feeling of love, That warmth deep inside. A drug almost, Beckoning me to to it, Like a magnet, It draws me in. A thirst, Yet to be quenched, A hunger, Yet to be satisfied. I need it, Though I cannot, Reach it. This thing that I desire, This thing that I want, That I need even. I cannot live without it... I cannot bare with the obsession, It eats my insides, Growing like an infection, Consuming me whole, Into its pits, I lie. Cold yet hot, Burning yet freezing. No substitute can save me from this, Imprisonment, Of my own desires. So I wait, I lie waiting for my moment, For my drug, My substance, Which sustains me. For that affection from another, To give back, In a mutual exchange, It is what I crave.
