Aflame

Vision blurs, heat waves in valley Summer

Heart racing like a candle flickering against the wind

Sweat beading as if I shared the room with a roaring fire

Fingers digging into my thighs

Breaths are shorter and shorter each time

Running after it

Trying to catch

It

Anger engulfs me like a forest aflame

Like wildfire there is no control

My mind, obscured by the smoke, races until I tire

In fury I can feel a blaze flooding my veins

My mind,

My body,

And just like a flame,

Encased it extinguishes…
