Afraid
I am fortunate
Beyond all, I am fortunate
To have the world's knowledge within my reach
And teachers who are willing to teach
When I seek help they are there
Their knowledge willing to share
Fortunate to have my mother
My sister, my dad, and my brother
I am afraid
My heart on my sleeve arrayed
Fear and I are a familiar pair
So are me and despair
I am vulnerable
Oh, so vulnerable
With my soul no longer barred
But still much too marred
I am me and only me
More than I'm categorized to be
Much beyond Latina
Una bailarina
I am free, to be me
Yet I remain
All the same
Afraid
