Afraid

As a little girl I used to be afraid of the monsters under my bed but as years passed by I realized I'm living among them I'd cry until my parents came and made me feel secure but now...now they can't help with these monsters I hid so they wouldn't get me but it changed me so much to a person not even I recognize anymore I'd cry myself to sleep wishing everything was better I depended on others they helped me even though they didn't know but just like shadows they leave when it gets to dark and only come along when there's nothing but sunshine I promised no more crying no more pain My words became my weapon and within time I became stronger and stronger monsters couldn't get to me as easily anymore
