Afraid

Mid way into his poem 

he said

"I have just been too afraid for too long".

 It stuck with me.

This idea that we can feel 

one emotion 

for so long it becomes debilitating.

Like a weight never to be lifted off our shoulders.

Off my shoulders.

I wonder if fear is my emotion?

No.

Depression?

Saddness.

I think I have been sad for too long 

So long that I no longer feel anything else.
