Africa, my home

Africa - Nigeria; My home, “ulo m” The place that molded me. Flooded with dark skinned individuals; Adorned with curly dark hair; weakened by corruption. But we are one; A family. The lighter brother declared - We are a tribe of monkeys disguised as humans; running the streets naked, accompanied by wild animals, on streets decorated with dust and numerous potholes; sprinkled with bread winners tilling the ground, baby machines cleaning and cooking, and their yields on the street. Agony and misery flowing through their bloodstream, Characterized with ridiculous accents. But, we are more than what the television shows, more than what the lighter brother says. Africa - Nigeria; My home Regardless of what people say, Nigeria is my country, my home, “ulo m” Do I play with lions? Do I live in mud huts? Do I have television at home or cable? The level of ignorance the lighter brother possess; does not anger me; but breaks my heart. It is challenging being colored in America; although they call it the home of the free, America will never be a colorblind nation. We are looked down upon, like deserve no respect or success. I have decided to accept my heritage and be grateful ; the proud Darker sister It is time to stand up, since America won't stand up for me I will forever remain grateful to: Africa, my home, “ulo m” *ulo m –my safe place; my refuge
