African American

Dark skin , brown eyes , black hair . Because I am of this person , why do I get judged ? Why is it okay for me to be insulted , but before I insult back , I become of harm’s way ? Why isn’t it okay for me to protect myself as a person without becoming a dark-skinned monster ? Outraged because I am of this character , yet shattered because I am of this world. This world that has become dark . This world where I am of a color that needs to be slaughtered. The racial slurs -- oh the slurs ! I cringed to the sounds , but I cannot change , because I am Dark-skinned. I have brown eyes , with black hair , and I am of us. I am an African American.
