Afrika

The wrongness of my mispronunciation of my native languages only makes me more Afrikan

More Afrikan than I am to put in the effort

I am Afrikan through blood and not by my birth

I am Afrikan through love and not by my worth

The amount of Zulu and Sotho words I can form they may be minimal, but at least I know where I am from

To me it's home ikhaya lami

To them it's a foreign land in which I don't belong

But what they don't understand is that is where my heart belongs

That is where my mind, my soul and my spirit come from

Afika

Mother of all lands

Afrika

Where the beautiful chocolate faces smile from ear to ear

And the words the speak so fulfilling

The different dialects and the way they speak, so fulfilling sound

A land full of people with a heart full of passion and beauty

A land that birthed all nations, including the nation in my heart

Afrika

The Afrika the I love

The Afrika that you love

The Afrika that we love

The same Afrika I was stripped of before I was even concieved

The same Afrika that holds all of my history

Afrika

Where Ubuntu will never die down

And the past will never lie down to rest

Cause it's the hands that made my creators

That made and  shaped me

Afrika
