After the Ashes

You taught me to be silent

You stole my voice

You told me to be small

You stole my strength

You pushed me down

You stole the ground from underneath my feet

But today I stand back up

Today I grow stronger

Today I speak out

You have not won

You have fueled me

You have not stolen my light

You have given me new eyes

You have not broken me

You have freed me

Today I win

Today I have the power

Today I rise
