AFTER DARK

Street lights are on

Kids are out

Searching for trouble

In the wrong places without a doubt

Where were you when your child was in trouble?

They go in the alley

Because that's where they hang

In the wrong crowd

There is always a gang

Where were you when your child was in trouble?

In the middle of an alley

A child was found

Laying cold and lifeless

Blood all over the ground

Where were you when your child was in trouble?

A teen is in a cell

Just waiting for bail

Thinking he's going home

Knowing he messed up in life and just fail

Where were you when your child was in trouble?

Now pleading for the one in jail

His parents were not there for him

For now he may go to prison

Now it's too late for them

Where were you when your child was in trouble?

But pleading for the one who died

His parents are discouraged and mad

That now they have a son to be buried

This leaves them being sad

Where were you when your child was in trouble?
