After Death (Tragedy)

I see you there, butterfly

With your golden wings

            Angled toward the sky

There’s hope in knowing

            You’re safe from harm

And free from the dangers

                        Of crawling

Caterpillar, so fragile, so small

So vulnerable to the ways

            Of the world

Take a rest now, I’ll be okay

In this tragic death

            Comes new life

I see you there, butterfly

I’ll see you there, butterfly
