After the Shot

After the shot

Breathing slowly

Crimson blood flows, and

Dreams fade to black.

Everything I once knew,

Felt-

Gone.

Here I am, dying.

It's over

Just tell them I love them

Killed in cold blood.

Life escapes from my lungs

My head is drooping

Nearly asleep

Opening my eyes

Praying to God

Quietly realizing that

Soon, I'll be gone, and

Tomorrow someone will find me

Under this floorboard

Veiled.

When all is said and done

X-Rays will reveal my fate.

You're almost there

Zen awaits
