After they've left

In those quiet moments

when you are left alone,

your mind ever wandering,

in the barren cold.

The thoughts that drift up from the dark,

and lonely parts of you...

Hurt the most within your heart

and leave you broken too.

Clouds of gray gather round your shoulders, still,

and press upon your fragile body

making you feel ill

And in those horrid moments, you feel the emptiness grow

nothing there to hold you and save you from the low

And in that cold and barren cavern

does your sad mind sit.

Alone and ever wanting, waiting to be fixed.

The flame of hope dies in your chest

as you sink into despair

And soon you hope that nothing ever actually finds you there

And at that point you know you've lost

you release a grievous sigh,

a single tear upon your cheek

as you begin to cry.

The sobs, they wrack your whole being and throw you to and fro,

Until you're left, a shattered carcass up against the wall.

Finally you can close your eyes and leave behind the day

And hope that dreams will take you... oh so far away.
