After the War

There, with bare feet cold and bleeding, She in tones of anguish cried make me a child again, just for tonight Her voice lives on the breeze tho’ cold that form lies sleeping and thy light, forever falling. the stars are shining now on silent summer day give out thy soul’s rich melody let me climb those hills again what lovely things were there thy name was once the magic spell by which my heart was bound lit with a sudden flame Those scenes we remember how oft when years have roll’d o’er this bleak world of sorrows away with the past, be it mine to forget it’s tones are strange to me but those happy scenes of youth since we parted long ago ‘tis the last rose of the summer who dares to say the rose is dead and the winds will chant my requiem the stars are shining only mourning for she who sleeps Finding pale for the music that’s faded to death. The pleasant day is past soon from us the light of day shall forever pass away

I don't write poetry but sometimes a good one just pops out of me. Probably once every other year. I'm a college student and recently declared a minor in English so hopefully I'll get around to writing more.
