After Words.

If the words never flowed,

then the world would never know

what it's like inside this head,

and how some moments it's like I'm dead.

Cause the thoughts keep on coming,

and the feelings rush in,

and I find myself drowning

in the midst of it.

When times are tough,

and my heart is sore

I can't cry or hit the floor,

I don't feel the way they do,

but the words keep on flowing through.

Somedays my passion dies,

but the paper lives on.

So to ignite a fire,

I write a poem or a song.

If the paper's the soil,

the pen is the seed

and in that quick moment

this flower learns to breathe.

I could give up the talking,

I could give up the song,

because without the words

why keep going on?

Words give us meaning,

words give us hope,

and although words can crush us

I pray that they don't.

So you see here right now

how important it is.

Because I don't know about you,

but words let me live.

I was trapped in this person,

I was stuck in this life

and now I have words...

And now... I'm alright.
