Aftermath

What is this pain that tears at my heart with the rath of a million demons,

The ache that is a constant reminder of a missing piece,

Something that will never fully heal,

Even if I become immortal and outlive time itself,

You will always own my heart and soul captive wherever you are,

Wether in the land of peace or the pits of hell,

You drag me along for the ride.

I have vowed to never shed a tear of my pain of seperation,

Not allowing your depature to rule my possible relationships,

But that now seems so impossible to keep,

As I see you in my dreams and you play with my heart,

Not thinking of the pain you are causing me,

Yet mearly a small child with his first small animal,

Addoring it in the only way they know.

The face that taunts me in my sleep night after night,

Is so heartbrakingly perfect I awake in fear,

Of you ever possibly being here next to me,

While I lay asleep missing your sacred presence,

The one thing that gives me hope for living on to the next day,

Preventing me from lossing all hope,

Ending this maze set before us in life lacking an end.

Never doubt my ability to live against the odds,

Despite the pain that ravages my body day and night,

I fight so hard to uphold my vow to never weep,

As I look into the night with burning dry eyes and an aching throat,

Memories are nightmares forever replaying in my mind,

Reminding me that I once had a love so great,

Yet was so weak I couldn't save it from this world.

Forever my heart will be more fragile than a pane of glass,

With the slightest touch in the wrong direction it shatters to peices,

Leaving me alone in even more heart aching pain than before,

But I will never love someone without restraint of my heart again,

For I fear the same out come time and time again,

Until the day I can take it no more,

And decide to forget and let go of all my past,

Even what it feels to love without restraint.
